The signals of the Mill’s Wings :
The wings were often used by the miller to give messages to the farmers. This behavior goes all the way back to when the Stub Mills were built.
The signals can be seen very clearly against the dark, square mill’s body as a background for the wings.
As the Dutch mill types became more and more common, this way of signaling was transferred to them too.
The signs showed were the most commonly used signs in Denmark, although not in Slesvig-Holsten.
By signaling like this, the farmers could easily keep up with the general state of the mill.
